The Christmas dinner for the soldiers was “the event” of Rappahannock for many years, and in the words of Charles Dickens, speaking of the regeneration of Ebenezer Scrooge, it was said of them, the Daughters, “They knew how to keep Christmas well.”
Note: One of the small fry who waited on the table at one of the dinners remembers that on one occasion she was a bit disappointed. When the time came for those who had helped, to be served, all of the roast duck was gone!!
Chi Sigma News
Due to the sudden snow, our last week's meeting was called off. We had planned to go to Front Royal for the Civic Program produced by the local bands of Front Royal. However, neither this or a local meeting was held.
Next Sunday night, December 18, our group is planning to go Christmas caroling. All members are to meet at Trinity Episcopal Parish Hall at 6:30. The hall will be open and heated so we can thaw out.
