And I thought of my former living and the land where the years increased
And I know of that future judgment how dreadful soe’er it be,
That to sit alone with my conscience will be judgment enough for me.” -
Charles Dickens, in his story of The Haunted House, tells of a man w’ho sat by his fire one night. He was miserable.full of bitter memories. The things he wanted he couldn't have, and the things he had, he didn’t want. His life became empty and how he suffered. no pictures on the wall and no glad voices echoing across the hills of rime, Dickens closed the story with a little prayer. The man got down and prayed to God. He said, “O Lord, keep my memories green, keep my memories green.. Let me write in the book of remembrance.” Maybe we need to pray that same prayer.
