A touch of excitement irr the form of the local Apple Pie BakeOff helped add a little spice to the first “in-school Saturday” at Rappahannock High School.
Judi Ann North, 15-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey North of Huntly, won over three other contestants. They were Rena Pullen, Mary Frances Pullen and Patricia Miller. Rena, the Virginia Cherry Pie Champion, placed second.

Judy estimates that she halted at least 15 pie* in preparation for Saturday’s contest. Her practice sessions continue because on April 27 Judi and‘Mrs. Glenna Bennett, her Home Ec teacher, will go to Winchester where in connection with the Apple Blossom Festival, girls will compete for the championship tilte in the Fifth Annual Apple Pie Contest. Each contestant will receive two reserved seat tickets to the coronation of Queen Shenandoah XXXIV and the Pagaent of Springtime that follows. She will also receive reserved seat tickets for the Firemens’ Parade.
The champion pie baker will be given an all-expense paid trip for two to Colonial Williamsburg, Va. in June.
