We held officers workshop during rhe summer to begin plans for the year’s work and to acquaint officers with their duties. The incoming president will be sent to the State Convention in July. At the beginning of the year, one of the activities in the initiation ceremony was a big sister project. Each :tcw member drew' the name of an older member and was instructed to go to this member if she had any problem or questions concerning FHA. Plans have been made for carrying out a school safety and beautification project.
One of the highlights of the FHA year was Rena Pullen winiving the State Cherry Pie Contest and thus becoming Virginia’s representative at the National contest in Chicago.
An Apple Pie Baking Contest was held in the school. Judi North won this with Rena Pullen placing second.
The third objective is “To interpret the value of home economics as a basic part of one’s total education. The projects under this goal are: Telling others about the homemaking program and understanding the responsibilities of a homemaker.
This completes the work which has been done by the chapter this year. Our members have carried on many home projects which help them grow as Future Homemakers of America.
