February 2nd is Ground Hog Day, however April is the best month to rid your farms of this pest. Foliage is not out thereby making it easier to locate the dens. Also dens now being used by groundhogs have fresh loose earth at their entrances. This is an excellent way of knowing a ground hog is using the den; he has done his spring cleaning.
Above all - you’ll not want to kill a wild animal that is your friend so watch for the fresh earth ground hog sign.
Remember mouse infestation is at an all-time high. Brer Fox and Mr. Skunk, both den using animals, are two of the best natural (jnousers we have. Also they feed on grubs which damage desirable plants. Kill the ground hog and you’ll be helping yourself but if you kill a fox or a skunk the results will be just the opposite.
