Tlie Rappahannock Lions Club held its regularly scheduled meeting at Hampton Inn July 12.
Capt. Luther Stuart was in charge of the; program and his presentation consisted of a highly informative film dealing with the modem Navy and the Polaris submarine projects. One of the most notable points stressed throughout the program was the need for high school and college education of personnel with aspirations for a place in the Navy of today.
Secretary, Lion Nichols gave a report on the eye conservation expenditures for the first half of .1961. The report showed that the local club has spent $236.00 for this period. A breakdown revealed that of this amount $206.00 was spent here in Rappahannock for the examination and fitting of glasses for school children who otherwise would not have had them.
