Tigers Pull One Out
Of The Fire
The Sperryville Tigers won their seventh straight game Sunday when they downed Martinsburg 7-6. The Tigers gave up 6 runs in the first inning. With excellent pitching by Richard Slaughter, who came on to relieve Charles Williams, and with fine playing by the rest of the team, the Tigers were able to hold Martinsburg to the six runs.
The Tigers now have a record of 17 wins, 1 tie and 2 losses.
The Tigers will play at home, Horse Shoe Inn diamond, Sunday July 23rd. against Martinsburg.
Mrs. Martha E. Butler, Mrs. Roberta Russell, Mrs. Susie Majors, Miss Mildred Freeman and Gaylord Butler spent Sunday in Washington, D. C. and were the dinner guests of Mrs. J. P. Williams and her daughters, Misses Geraldine and Cordelia Williams.
