Pfc. Carl D Smoot, son of Mrs. Annie Smoot, Washington, Va., recently participated with other personnel from the 1st Division’s 7th Cavalry in an Army training test in Korea.

Designed to determine individual and unit combat efficiency the test featured training in various phases of warfare against a simulated aggressor force.

The 20-year-old soldier, a communications specialist in the cavalry’s Company A, entered the Army in May 1960 and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C.

H e attended Rappahannock County High School.
