ther or all of these can and do represent a potentially disastrous fire. Although unlawful, some fires are also started by smoking game from den trees. Smoldering fires in the decayed center of a tree can survive and burn for several days before the fuel on the ground is dry enough to bum.
For a forest fire to start, the weather and burning conditions in the woods have to be favorable. Most persons are not familiar enough with fire danger to realize that six to twelve hours of sunshine and drying winds after a rain represents enough time to dry the fuel so that it will burn readily.
The Division of Forestry cautions all hunters to be careful with all fires while in the woods. Help protect the forests from fire in the interest of future forests and recreation.
Church Dinner Set
For November 17th
The Washington Methodist Church will have a turkey dinner Friday night, November 17 from 5 until 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and eat homemade rolls, butter, pies, pickles, turkey, dressing and many other good foods. The dinner will be served in the parish hall of Trinity Episcopal Church. Tell your friends and neighbors, and bring your family to a good old fashioned turkey dinner.
