Confusion still exists among swine producers regarding the use of modified live virus vaccine in preparing pigs for the organized Feeder Pig Sales. A* I’ve mentioned in this column time and again, this vaccine does not endanger other unvaccinated hogs on the farm.
In the first place, any group of organized farmers would be foolish to require its members to use a material that would be harmful to the purpose of the organization. A feeder pig sale organization is made up of producers. These producers must have pigs in volume if they are to have a successful feeder pig sale at low selling costs. They ask no producer to use any vaccine that they are not willing to use themselves.
