We still see wide-spread use of block salt. To me this is an indication the farmer is either un-informed or just plain lazy. No farm animal can get enough salt when it needs it by licking a block. If you will watch livestock around a block of salt they will convince you of this statement. You will see cattle, sheep or horses wearing out their teeth trying to bite, o scrape off, enough salt to get what they want.
