An Open Letter

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The annual drive for funds for Rappahannock Rescue Squad is now on, but it has been difficult for the members to get around to each house because of carnivals and all squad members work so time is limited.

The squad would appreciate so much if you will send your contribution in to them.

All of the county firemens carnivals have been most successful,1 grossing funds in the thousands. There are only 12 to 15 members of the rescue squad, so it is virtually impossible for them to have a carnival for raising funds*

Rescue Squad calls number 20 to 1 for the fire companies, so you realize how much it takes to operate. In the past 30 days the res-1 cue squad has answered 19 calls.

From Friday, August 3rd until] the 5th four calls were made; one to Front Royal, Charlottesville,] Washington, D. C. and Martinsburg, W. Va. From August 10th to 12th they received three calls;] two to Culpeper and one to Front, Royal. I

On those seven calls, 584 miles' were traveled and 30 man hours I spent. Last month $72 50 waa required for tires for the ambulance and the gas bill was $28.47. That gives you an idea of expenses.

Every contribution will be appreciated. We are always ready to serve you.
