The President has approved a new law permitting holders of World War I term U. S. Government Life Insurance policies to exchange for a new “Endowment at 96” plan, on and after their 65th birthday. This bill is an attempt to solve the dilemma of WWI veterans having to meet the almost prohobitive cost of payments on their 5 year level term policies.
Many of these older insured are finding themselves unable to pay the sharp increase in premium costs each 5 years, and must either reduce the amount of insurance carried or drop it entirely. The VA will write these policyholders shortly, informing them of the new rates, and the VA will also try to learn if some of these veterans may be able to mature their policies by being permanently disabled. Mrs. Randolph Devers, who is in the University of Virginia Hospital for a check up, is expected to return home by the weekend.
