Johnnie Harrison, Washington, is in Rappahannock County jail; charged with maliciously and feloniously shooting his f a t h e r, James Harrison on'August 11th.
Johnnie shot his father, wounding him very seriously, when he attempted to prevent him from leaving home with a gun. He also threatened to shoot Tobin Scroggins with the same shot gun, but was unable to reload when the chamber of the gun jammed. He broke the gun on the door of the pickup in which Mr. Scroggins was trying to escape and after pulling him from the vehicle attacked him. Scroggins knocked Harrison down and escaped.
Moments later Harrisan cut his Own throat with a razor in an obvious attempt to commit suicide.
Johnnie Harrison was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later released

Cold Storage
Mr, Newbill Miller, Washington, Va. has been appointed manager of the Washington Apple Growers' cold storage plant. He assumed duties in this capacity August 15. Mr. Miller was appointed by the Board of Directors after they had accepted the resignation .of James W. Coates, who had been manager for a number of years.

Plans are being made for the 12th reunion of the Johnson family Sunday, August 26 at the Flatwood’s Packing House. Picnic dinner will be served 12:30 p.m. D.S.T.
