Proves Successful
Amissville firemen closed the carnival season in the county with a gala four night carnival last week, Wednesday through Saturday.
In the parade Thursday night, the following winners were announced: Best appearing and equipped fire apparatus over 500 G.P.M., Louisa; same under 500 G.PM., The Rains; Best appearing company and mien, AreolaPleasant Valley; coming longest distance, Louisa; oldest apparatus, Falls Church; best appearing and equipped rescue squad, Warrenton; second, Rappahannock.
Best majorettes, Gainesville Firettes; second, Fauquier Stepetces; best drum & bugle corps, Winchester; best solo majorette, Ann Watson; best civic float, the Amissville Ruritan Club; best comic float, Hugo Stribling; best commercial float, Stringfellows.
Best*marching unit Gainesville Junior Firemen; best ladies auxiliary, The Plains.
M. H. Hensley of Rapidan was awarded the grand prize a 1962 Faison. Mrs. O. A. Fant of Brandy Station war given the portable television amf the pony went to David Canon of Vint Hill Station. /V /'

The fire company, ladies auxiliary and the community expressr es its appreciation for the wonderful attendance, workers, donations for the food, cake and other stands and for the great success the event was.
