Placings in the 1961-62 competition were: Tommy Lillard first; Cecil Pullen, second; Clarence Jenkins, third; Bill Welch, fourth and David Smoot, fifth. Each of these boys, in payment for their sows, turned over a choice registered gilt to another boy.
Those continuing the chain this year are Donald Beahm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Beahm; Eddie Ricketts, son of Mr and Mrs. C. W. Ricketts; Carrol Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Sanders, all of Washington; Nelson Putnam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Putnam and E. J. Pullen, son of Mr. and Mrs, Manuel Pullen, both of Amissville. All of the boys have made an excellent start.
This year an excellent registered Yorkshire boar was purchased from a Culpeper County Sears project member to head the 196263 Rappahannock herd. The Sears Foundation is making a very worthy contribution to the economic and human growth nock youth, as well as farmers.
