son is known to be allergic to insect bites then hyposensitization is mandatory. Formerly this was rather an involved process requiring numerous weekly injections, but recent developments offer the patient immunization by treatment applied in only 1 to 3 injections a year. Insect repellants should not be relied upon by these persons as the chance of being bitten when in places where insects are not expected is always a possibility.

Having had experience with insect bites, I should like to add that it can be terrifyingm When one of my children was five years old a wasp stung on her on her hand. In five minutes her eyes were swelled shut and she turned red all over. I quickly got a doctor and after three injections in an hour or so, she was all right.
The second time it happened, I was prepared to know what to do. By this time she was a teenager. 1 took her immediately to a hospital where a doctor gave her the proper injections. The second time her reaction to the sting was the same as the first with the added difficulty in breathing. Now she carries prescribed medicine to check her reaction until she can get to a doctor or hospital.
