other articles were given to the Kiva, but most of the articles were made through the dancers' own efforts. The history of the Kiva and the places where the dancers have gone were shown in films to the scouts. It was all very interesting. Finally, at approximately 11:00 p.m. everyone retired for the night. August 1, 1963 - Today we left the Kiva at about 5:30 that morning on the last lap of our journey to Philmont. From the Kiva it is only 180 miles to Philmont. Almost immediately after leaving we entered into some beautiful country. We saw plateaus, beautiful forests, and tall mountains. We could also see the timber, line on some of the mountains. On the way we passed through Trinidad, Col. and started climbing Raton Pass. At the summit of the pass there was a ski lift by which you could go to. the mountain there and get a wonderful view of the lower Rockies and of the surrounding countryside.
