Ataturk therefore proclaimed his capitol and the seat of the government of the new Turkey in the .dusty little village of Angora, whose name promptly got changed to Ankara. Any attack on his forces would be telegraphed days ahead by the dust they would raise on the palins in any direction. There was not only a change in name-there was a change in tempo. The city began to build. It’s as if President Kennedy decided Big Washington was no longer suitable and moved the capitol to Little Washington.
