Governor’s Traffic
Safety Message
Governor Harrison's Labor Day Traffic Safety Message, 1963 ''
Once again, Labor Day approaches, and again the hazards that face us every day on our highways will be intensified.
When all the studies have been completed and all the statistics analyzed, the reasons for highway crashes become crystal clear. They are very personal reasons. You and I have been in too much of a hurry. We have let our attention wander We have taken chances. We have lost our tempers. We have not cared enough. I urge you, every second that you are behind the wheel to drive as though your life, and the lives of your loved ones, depended on your skillfor indeed they do.
