Payton sustained a split shoulder blade, back injuries and minor internal injuries. He was also taken to the hospital by the rescue squad. Mary Ella'Payton, 21, of Luray was taken by automobile to Page Memorial Hospital, Luray with multiple contusions and abrasions. Mary Virginia Frye, 21, also of Luray, suffered a sprained hip but was not hospitalized. Two other passengers in vehicle were not injured. This brings the total traffic deaths in Rappahannock to four this year. Trooper Dicks reported another accident at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, September 21 onRt. 522 about seven miles east of Sperryville. Henry Leo Cannon, Jr. of Midland, Pa. driving a 1959 Mercury station wagon, struck and killed an angus calf in the road. Damage to the Cannon car was estimated at $300. Mr. Cannon's wife and three small children were not injured. The owner of the animal is unknown.
