ommonwealth’s A t torney George H. Davis was consulting with a client in his office at the courthouse Thursday light when her husband, Edwin Belt of Washington. Va. burst into the office wielding a gun and threatened both his wife and Mr. Davis. T. Carlyle Lea, Jr., an occupant in the next off ice heardthe commotion and called Sheriff C. K. Estes and Deputy Ernest Lillard. Belt was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and was lodged in the county jail. He was released on $2,500 bond Sunday. A preliminary hearing has been set for Friday at 2 p.m. Since the county’s prosecuting attorney is the complaining witness and Judge Lea was also a witness, Page County officials have been requested to act. Gardeners set a rapid pace early this week as they gathered late vegetables and flowers and covered other plants in preparation for the heavy frost which blanketed the county yesterday and Tuesday mornings. Temperatures dipped to 27 Tuesday and 28 Wednesday, according to the official weather “lady”, Miss Ruby Jenkins, at Washington.
