President John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States, was assassinated at 12:30 p. m. Friday, Nov. 22, (Our time 1:30 p. m.) in Dallas, Texas. The President riding in an open convertible car, was on a tour over the city’s streets and was on the point of entering an underpass when .three shots from a hlah powered rifle rang out. Two of them struck the President, inflicting fatal wounds. A third struck Governor John B.-Connally of Texas, causing a wound less serious. The two men were rushed to Parkland Hospital. At 1:00 p. m. the President was dead a& result of a wound in the throat, the bullet coursing up and coming out of the head. The other wound was in his back; Within an. hour police had arrested Lee Harvey Oswald, 24, a prime suspect, who was hiding in a small moving picture theatre after having killed a policeman who had stopped him for questioning.
