Elder and Mrs. J. Harvey Daily of Sperryville were honored Sunday, November 24 with open house in celebration of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. The party was given by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs* J. M. Durden. Mr. and Mrs. Daily were married November 24, 1903 in Greenfield, Ind. after a whirlwind courtship of two weeks. Mr. Daily spent his teens in Luray and made a trip to Greenfield where he met Mrs. Daily. Since then they have lived in Ohio, and Georgia where Eld. Daily served churches, and resided for a year in L i m e t o n before settling in Sperryville in 1944 after purchasing the Johnson Place in town. Mrs. J. M. Durden is their only child. Mr. Daily is 82 and Mrs. Daily 80 was Miss Selena Marsh prior to her marriage. Eld. Daily has been a Primitive Baptist minister for about 62 years. He presently serves the Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist Church in Old Hollow near Sperryville, a church in Bentonville and Luray and one in Martinsburg, W. Va.
