Holiday Festivities Begin At V. M. 1. Today
The usual austerity of barracks life at Virginia Military Institute will be Interrupted this Thanksgiving week end by a whirlwind of activities climaxed by the traditional Ring Figure dance on Friday night when cadet second classmen (juniors) receive their class rings. Among the cadets participating in the ring ceremony this year will be Cadet Rayner V. Snead, Jr., of Washington, Va. Cadet Snead will escort Miss Missy McKelthen of WinstonSalem, North Carolina, Miss McKeithen is a sophomore at Mary Baldwin College. * SomeA20(J memjbergjp^JfMrs 1 Class of 1965 will be taking1 part in the colorful ceremony which is a high point in the social life of cadets. The cadets and their dates go through an elaborate ballroom figure which culminates with each cadet’s receiving his class ring from his girl in exchange for a kiss beneath an ivy-covered arch. The figure which is followed by the first dance of the Thanksgiving set, is witnessed by many hundreds of other cadets and dates, parents, Institute faculty and guests. The Ring Figure is a high
