Nichols Barn
Destroyed By Fire
A barn and a chicken house on the property of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nichols in Flint Hill were destroyed by fire Sunday night. Three fire companies, Flint Hill, Washington, and Front Royal, responded to the alarm, but were unable to save the structures. However, other buildings nearby were kept from catching fire. The fire, of undetermined origin, was discovered by Mrs, Nichols and was in a light blaze when detected. The bun contained some thirty bales of hay which burned and there were 18 chickens in the house, five of which were rescued.
Flint Hill Fire Department continued to keep an eye on the smouldering ruins and watered it down again Tuesday morning.
