In this case, the farmer may report two-thirds of his gross profit for social security purposes rather than the actual net. By electing this optional method, many farmers are able to report on a larger amount and, therefore, receive a higher benefit when a claim is filed at retirment, disability', or by his survivors in event of death. Farmers under age 72 during any part of 1963 who are receiving social security benefits are required to make a report directly to the Social Security Administration if their net earnings exceeded
