Contributing a few hours of voluntary service, or making a generous gift is a small price to pay for the great rewards which are certain to stem from an effective fight against the heart and blood' vessel diseases. These diseases afflict more than 10,000,000 liv ing Americans. They are responsible for over 54 percent of all deaths in the United States. ^Only collective actionsuch as the nationwide fight made possible by Heart Sunday volunteers and Heart Fund contributors — can reduce death and disability from the heart diseases. The problem cannot be solved by wishful thinking. The elements essential to a solution are carefully balanced programs of research, education and community service carried forward by your Heart Association.
