(This is the way prospects for Virginia farm prices looked to the Virginia Department of Agriculture on Friday of last week. The Department offers it to farmers with the warning that no one can predict prices and be right all the time.) Broilers
Virginia broiler prices during the next week or two are expected to be weaker. Prices for the first quarter will probably average below price levels of last year. Heavy competition from oth er meats plus larger than last year broiler supplies are the main reasons behind this outlook.
Virginia broiler supplies for this week are indicated to be 7 per cent more than the same time last year. Supplies for the week ending February 8 are expected to be 8 per cent above the same week last year. Supplies should then gradually de crease.
