Two local brothers and a Front Royal youth were slight* ly injured Saturday afternoon in a single vehicle collision, near Flint Hill. According to Trooper Paul Dicks, Claes G. Tholand of Sperryvtlle operating- a ’6a..,. Falcon station wagon was driving north on Route 522, As he rounded a curve, Junior Foster of Huntly started onto the highway from his driveway. Tholand braked and swerved, losing control of his vehicle, which went down a bank and struck a tree. Tholand received a lacerated chin, left ankle and multiple abrasions. Passengers in the car were Jens Tholand who sustained multiple abrasions, and William A. Lillard, Jr. of Front Royal. Lillard was admitted to Warren Memorial Hospital with a concussion, lacerated left hand and foot and multiple abrasions. The station wagon was a total loss said Mr. Dicks. At 5:30 p. m. Sunday 1.6 miles east of Washington on Route 211 an auto skidded on wet pavement, went down a [bank, rolled over and landed upright in the field. Henry Thomas Avery of Manassas, who was operating the vehicle, a ’63 Falcon, sustained only slight abrasions of the head. Mrs. Gladys Avery a passenger, received a bruised hand. Trooper Dicks, who investigated the accident, said both Mr. and Mrs. Avery were wearing seat belts which had helped to prevent serious injury to the occupants.
Damage to the Avery car was estimated at $800.
