Marsh Urges Printing
Commem’tive Stamp
Representative John O. Marsh, Jr., has urged the Post Office Department to irtorade among commemorative postage stamps to be issued in 1965, a stamp marking the bicentennial of the Stamp Act Congress. * In a letter to Postmaster General John A. Gronouski, Marsh pointed out that historians recognize this meeting, held in New Yo^k October 7, 1765, as one of the major events which led to the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution. The 7th District Congressman has been sponsoring a Congressional resolution to plan “a meaningful observance of this and other events preceding the outbreak of the war for independence*. He has suggested that public attention, particularly that of young people, be directed to this period, 200 years ago, “in which the founding fathers shaped what we now regard as our heritage of representative government and individual freedom". A limited number of special stamps are issued each year. The subjects are sleeted by the Postmaster General on recommendation of an advisory committee.

Horse & Pony Show
The Burton-Hammond Post No. 2524, Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor their annual Rhoda-Lea Horse and pony Show on Saturday September 12 at the Rhoda-Lea Farm, Stevensburg, Va., 8 miles east of Culpeper on Rt. 3. The show will feature 14 classes in the English Division and 4 classes in the Western Division. It will be a full day for horse lovers starting at 9:30 a.m.
