Albert Vincent Black of Luray, operating a 60 Chevrolet, ran off the highway into a ditch on Route 211 near Washington Friday night. The accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. Black sustained contusions of the nose. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $600 according to Trooper Paul Dicks, investigating officer. Lewis William Dodson of Sperryville received lacerations of the left eye when the car he was driving overturned down an embankment at 1:25 a.m. October 18, seven tenths of a mile north of Flint Hill on Route 522. A passenger with Dodson, John Thomas Wharton, also of Sperryville was hospitalized with undetermined injuries, according to Trooper Paul Dicks. Dodson said he was forced off the road by an oncoming vehicle. His 57 Chevrolet struck a rock and overturned. The vehicle was a total loss.

Both Dodson and Wharton were taken to Warren Memorial Hospital by Flint Hill Rescue Squad.
