Doings

Last Thursday the five 4-H members with a Sears pig project traveled with me to see each others pig project. The hogs are registered Yorkshire gilts.
Our first stop was at Martha Lou O’Bannoirs at Woodville. We could see that Martha had been giving the hog a lot of attention. She told the others on the tour about feeding, watering, and bedding her hog. The boys showed similar progress when we vlsitled their places. Our second stop was at George Menefee’s farm. Here we also borrowed an extra shovel and hammer to put up a county 4-H sign near th< Culpeper line on U. S. 522. At C. G. Thornhill’s farm we saw his gilt and the registered boar. Our fourth visit was at Steve Green’s home at Slate Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Green also surprised the group with a treat at their store. We made our last stop to see Steve Smith's hog project and we left there about dark. Each 4-H member learn ed a lot by seeing how well each was doing with the hog project.
