Membership
Proclamation
Every year in the month of October, PTA’s invite into membership all who want to count and be counted on in work for welfare of children and youth. This year the invitation will go forth from 47,000 PTA’s across the land from 267 PTA’s in the distant states of Hawaii and Alaska, from 150 PTA’s in Europe and other distant places, and particularly from your own Washington Ele mentary School. For whenever concerned American parents and teachers live there is likely to be a PTA. The PTA is a meeting ground for those who believe that schools should be continually improved. The PTA is a formum where parents, educators, com1 munity leaders, and civic officals can present their views on influences that help or hamp er children’8 wholesome development. It is a place where problems that seem insoluble become manageable through, group study and discussion. It is a place where cooperative action can be initiated to deal with problems that individual effort cannot solve. ■ In the PTA there is room for dissent as well as assent It is a democratic organization where the majority rules and the minority is respected. There is no ceiling on a PTA’s concerns and involvements. The PTA is as enter prising as its leadership and membership make it. Therefore, let it be known that the PTA is a voluntary educational organization, let that it offers to men and women opportunities to invest themselves as deeply as they desire in promoting the wellbeing of children and youth. Let it be known, that every parent, every teacher, every resident of the county who has interest in the youth of our school, is both needed and wanted in the PTA^ The next move is yours-!
