State Sen. William F. Stone of Martinsville who gave the main address was lavish in his praise of Sen. Carter. He said; “He looks like, and has the common sense and humor of a Will Rogers. He possesses the courage and tenacity to follow through on projects that George Washington had, and he holds a love for Virginia and its institutions as exemplified in Gen. Robert E. Lee”. “When any legislation affecting Virginia schools for the deaf and the blind is introduced to the General Assembly, most often the question is asked ‘what does Curry Carter think about it?”, stated Sen. Stone. Curry Carter Hall was one of three new buildings, including a dormitory for young blind boys and the new infirmary, dedicated on Sunday. Sen. Carter was born in Rappahannock County and is a brother of Mrs. W. F. Moffett of Washington.
