application only about twice a year. Dusting or washing the foliage of plants improves the appearance and often results in better growth. Numerous leaf polish products are recom* mended for use on firm leaves of foliage plants. Leaves should be dusted before applying such products. Following the manufacturer’s recommendations and applying polisher when the soil is moist lessens possibility of plant injury. If plant tolerance is doubtful, apply to a few leaves first. If no injury is evident within a week, the entire plant can be treated. Success in growing plants in the home probably depends as much on good judgment in selecting plants to carry over as on the scale in caring for them. Many house plants will survive in adverse household conditions.
