According to an article in the El Paso, Texas Times, issue of December 9, 1964, Miss Mary Hunter Wood has been chosen Junior Miss of 1965 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wif liam ,Wood of Las Cruces, former residents of Rappahannock County. Miss Wood won the title from a field of ten contestants getting the judges approval on personality, poise and talent and general appearance. She will now compete on the state level in Santa Fe in the nation |wide project of the Junior [Chamber of Commerce. The [Santa Fe judging will be held [this spring. Winners of each | level receive a college scholar:ship and other prizes.
Miss Wood plays the cello I in the Las Cruces High School orchestra. She was one of 86 [string players selected from ; a 11 New Mexico high schools to participate in the all-state orchestra. She is a member of the honor society and activities committee of the school.
