Three fire companies with| six pieces of equipment responded to an alarm early Monday morning when a large frame house near Amissville was partically gutted by flames. The house is owned by H. R. DuChaine of Landover, Md. and was occupied by Mrs. Scheer and two children. It is the former “Katherine Anderson place' between Amissville and Ben Venue. The fire apparently started around the chimney or fireplace. A large collie dog sleep ing in the house awakened the occupants, who called Amissville Fire Company at 12:30 a.m. Amissville firemen responded with two pumpers and a' water tank. For Improvements
Additional book shelves are being constructed to accommodate the goodly number of books having been acquired by the Rappahannock Library and other construction is being done this week. The balcony floor is being finished to provide extra room for books and tentative plans call for an area for quiet reading and research. The work is being done by George W. Hawkins of Sperryv>lle.
The Library Board and staff are pleased to be able to announce these improvements which they hope will add to the Library’s service to the community.
