Mr. and Mrs. Brereton J. Wood of Flint Hill announce the engagement of their daughter Frances Ruffner Wood, to Edgar Davidson Charles, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Davidson Charles of Florence, South Carolina. Miss Wood was graduated from Warwick High School. Mr. Charles was graduated from The Bolles School. They are both attending St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, N. C. The wedding will take place June 5.

On Januray 11 George Thorni hill entered Culpeper Mem-] orial Hospital for a checkup. He is expected to return home this week. (Quests of Mr. and Mrs’. Waver Kennedy for the weekend were their daughter Miss Betty Kennedy and their son land daughter-in-law, Mr. and 'Mrs. Robert Kennedy, all of ! Alexandria.

Mrs. Russell Settle accompanied her sister Mrs. Luther Elkins when she returned to her home in Charleston, W. Va. on January 10. Mrs. Settle will remain fyr a week or so visiting relatives. Barton Ouaintance of Seaford, Del. spent the week-endl of January 10 with his mother! Mrs. R. W. ouaintance and on| Sunday evening drove on to Roanoke to attend a meeting of the DuPont plant held there during the week.
