Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Cook of Flint Hill received about sixty well wishers who dared the slippery weather to attend their Golden Wedding celebration Sunday which was held at Flint, Hill fire hall from 3 . until 5 p.m. The Cooks were married January 20, 1915 at Mrs. Cook’s home, Mountain View, near Flint Hill. Mrs. Cook was the former Miss ■ Ruth Eastham. The Rev. A. ! P. Williams, pastor of the Methodist church at that time performed the ceremony and Miss Julia Settle, now Mrs. Julia Eastham of Shady Side, Md., was the only attendant.
Mrs. Cook recalled that in contrast to Sunday’s weather, her wedding day was warm anc clear, and they wentfrom Flint Hill in a convertible with the top down, driven by John R. Moore, sr. to Front Royal. M. R. Bradford, Sr. was on the porch of his store with a package of rice waiting their passing. However, they slipped by quickly and Mr. -Bradford missed his target. In Front Royal they took a ’ train for Afton, Va. where Mr; L Cook’s parents lived. At the reception Sunday, the couple cut a beautiful tiered . wedding cake. Other refresh, ments and decorations were carried out in gold.
Mr. and Mrs. Cook received many beautiful gifts and cards. Of their six children, only three were able to be present for the anniversary. They
