Deer Trophy
Gavor Foster of Flint Hill was presented a trophy by the Rappahannock Game and Fish Club for bagging the largest deer during the hunting season. The presentation was made at the meeting Monday night of the Club held at the courthouse in Washington. The dlub had sponsored a contest for huntsmen last season. Officers were elected for the coming year as follows: T. Morgan Johnston, Washington president; Harry Trescott Sperryville, vice-president; Charles Foster, Flint Hfll, sea retary; Garfield Burke, Woodville, treasurer. The club had a membership of over seventy last year, according to past president, W. H. Lyne. Projects chosen to be sponsored in 1965 include com pletion of restocking the Thorn ton River with bass, a quail food patch contest, a deer contest and beagle field trials. Committeemen named to draw up regulations and do the foot work for the contests are quail food patch, A. J. Dean, Amissville and Roxy Clater, Sperryville; beagle trials, James Bennett. Boston and |Garfield Burke, Woodville. Ef J forts are being made to obtain the quail food patch seed through the local wildlife bio logist. Interested parties should contact either Mr. Dean or Mr. Clater right away for planting time will soon be her^ Mr. Burke announced that 1965-66 membership dues should be paid now. He urged all members to renew their membership andannounced that the club is open to new members.
