Education, educational TV, school busses, game warden, budget and bills were among the topices to come before the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors at their Apr il meeting Friday. All members of the Board were present with the chairman, J. Newbill Miller, presiding.
O. A. Norton, Superintendent of Schools was present to answer any questions concerning the projected finances for schools to be included in the county budget. He stated that operating expenses were high er since two school busses must be replaced this year. He also told of the future plans possible for educational television which is used present ly in local schools on a small scale. Some members of the Board spoke in favor of a state sales tax provided personal property taxes were eliminated and merchants licenses reduced. Cost of education are soaring, as well as county operating expenses. The chairman relinquished the chair to vice chairman, H. B. Wood, and proposed a resolution as follows: Be it resolved that the R appahannock County Board of Supervisors requests the Virginia Game Commission to conduct a relative examination for all eligible residents ofRappahan. nock County who may apply for the position of Game Warden of Rappahannock County. The Board suggests that the Game Warden be selected by the Game Commission from the top five passing grades of the above mentioned examination. The Board also urges the Game Commission to conduct this examination at the earliest possible time.
