Amissville Auxiliary Elects Officers
Amissville Ladies Auxiliary elected officers for 1966-67 at a meeting held Thursday evening. Re-elected to their presidency was Mrs. Russell Hackley; as the treasurer, Mrs. A. C. Latham; Mrs. Franklin Williams, vice-presi dent; Mrs. Sarah Latham, reporter. New officers elected were Miss Lou Ann Phillips, secretary and Mrs. Paul Suter. Chaplain.
Last Call for Tree Seedlings
Last Call for forest tree seedlings for spring planting in 1966. William C. Vernam, forester for Rappahannock County, reports that spring planting season is drawing to a close and landowners who wish to obtain trees from the Virginia Division of Forestry nurseries for reforestation projects should place their orders immediately. Twenty-three landowners in Rappahannock County have ordered 43,500 seedlings for reforestation projects in the county this spring. Trees are still available at a small cost of $5.50 to $9.50 per thousand trees depending on species ordered. This price Includes delivery to the landowner or to the planting site. Approximately 800 trees will plant an acre of 6pen abandoned land with about 500 trees per acre being needed to reforest an acre of cutover woodland. Landowners who wish to order trees or who wish to have a free planting site examination with recommendations for tree planting should contact Mr. W. C. Vernam, Forester, Virginia Division of Forestry, Box 111, Warren ton, Virginia or Chief Forest Warden Raymond M. Johnson, Woodvllle, Virginia. Plant seedlings now so that they may grow into the forests of the future.
