Woman Sustains Leg
Fracture In Crash
An Amlssville Negro womai) Alberta Grayson, sustained a compound fracture of both legs In a traffic collision Friday night just below Amissvllle in Culpeper County. The crash o» curred on Route 211 about 10 o'clock. According to Trooper R. W. Mitchell, a 53 Chevrolet operated by Felix Barber was mechanically disabled and stopped on the edge of the highway. Assistance was rendered to the Barber car by William Morgan in a 64Dodge station wagon who pulled off the road in front of, and facing, the Barber vehicle. The Barber vehicle was struck in the rear by a 57 Chevrolet operated by Andrew Harper Tolliver of Harrisonburg. Alberta Grayson was standing between the Barber and Morgan vehicles when the impact occurred. In addition to fractured legs she sustained a head injury, said Trooper Mitchell. She was taken to Fauquier Hospital by Amissville Rescue Squad and later transferred to Fairfax Hospital.
Morgan sustained a possible chest injury and Barber received a head injury. However, neither were hospitalized. Tolliver was treated at Fauquier Hospital for an arm and mouth injury. Both the Barber and Tolliver vehicles were a total loss. Tolliver was charged with reckless driving. Three single - vehicle crashes were investigated by Trooper w. A. Buntin during the weekend. On March 18 at 1 a.m. on Route 522 a mile and a half south of Flint Hill, James Elvis Foster of Washington, Va. operating a 60 Chevrolet owned by his father James B. Foster, apparently went to sleep and crashed. The vehicle ran off the right of the road, struck-a turned over. Foster was bruised and shaken and the car was a total loss.
