Washington Fire Company and Rappahannock Rescue Squad will open a 4-night carnival at the grounds just east of the town next Wednesday night, September 14 and will will continue through Saturday the 17th. A parade will be the feature event on Thursday evening and will begin at 7 p.m. A variety of prizes will be awarded each night with grand prizes given away Saturday. These are a Magnus full keyboard electric organ, a 12 gauge Remington pump gun and a $25 Savings Bond. The midway will be active with rides and a selection of games, good food and entertainment will be available to all. A plate supper will be sold following the parade Thursday night. The Washington Ladies Auxiliary are asking for donations of baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, cakes and pies. Call Mrs. W. B. Jenkins at 675-3352 or Mrs. Frances Foster 675-3334 and volunteer your specialty. Food should be delivered to the grounds before 5 p.m. Thursday. Volunteers are also needed to work in the various stands and ticket booths and should contact Mrs. Bertha Armel for this.
