The Thornton River which runs through the Town of S|>erryville and the Thornton Gap fork from Old Hollow normally join at this point. At the forks there is nothing but dry river bed and protruding rocks with a stagnant pool in the foreground. The water situation is acute and at the nearby farm of Clifford Miller, wells have gone dry, necessitating drilling a new, deep one. Dead fish, many as much as five inches long, can be seen in great numbers.
