Amissville Reports Over $12,000 Carnival Gross
Amissville Fire Department reports that gross receipts from the annual carnival held in August totaled $12,237.4ft This is a slight increase over last year. The fire company and community expresses appreciation to al 1 who contributed to the succes® of the four night event.

Held Over Weekend
The second annual Whistle Cup Tennis Tournament was held ire the county Labpr Day weekend. The tournamerttconsisted of 18 mixed doubles play ed Sunday and Monday on the courts at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Parrish, Viewtown, Mr. and Mrs. N. K. G. Tholand, Sperryville and Judge and Mrs. R. V. Snead, Washington.
Winners in the finals played Monday at Tholand's Piedmont Farm were Mrs. Stuart Cooper of Warrenton and Jens Tholand. Others in the finals were Mrs. Ann Moore of Mad ison and Ed Harris, Huntly; Mrs. Ruth Baumgardner of Annandale and W a s h i n g ton, Va. and Judge Snead. Mrs. Cooper and Mr. Tholand had scores of 3-6, 6-4 and 9-7 with the final set a hard fought victory. They won over Mrs. Baumgardner and Judge Snead. Third finalists ; were Mrs. Moore and Mr. i Harris who came out 3-3 in the play off with the Judge and Mrs. Baumgardner and I lost 4-2 to the champions, i Following the presentation i of the cups at the close of | the tournament Monday, i a Dutch picnic lunch was enjoyed on the lawn at Piedmont.
