Defying the drought are Red Delicious apples grown on dwarf trees hy N. K. G. Tholand, Piedmont1 Farm, Sperryville. The sample held here bv Mrs. Janice Brown measured 11 inches in circumference. According to Lucio Kilby, Mr. Tholand has quite a nice crop of them and they are being packed by Rappahannock Cold Storage in Sperryville. In the other hand, Mrs. Brown holds a puffball which weighed 2 pounds and was picked by Earl Kilby on Brown's Mountain-.
