fects your present and future food budgets. Not too long ago, a grocery store was pretty much a market. The clerks gave advice on buying. The butchers helped you choose your meats for that special occasion or purpose. Much of the processing was done in the store. You got credit, delivery and similar services. In other words, the store was a* market in which many of the marketing services and jobs were performed. Instead of a one-stop shopping center, it served more nearly as a one-stop market system. To a large extent, this has changed. A grocery store today serves largely as a storehouse and distribution center. It is a place where you go to look over thousands of items and pick out 25 - 30 you happen to want or need today or this week. Generally speaking, your buying decisions are pretty much made before you get into the store. Whether this is good or bad is a matter of opinion. The opinion you have or that I have depends on what we have been accustomed to, on what we want, and on what we are willing to pay for.
