State Trout Season
Opens Noon Saturday
The trout fishing season for 1967 In Virginia will get under way at noon on Saturday, April 1 with the largest number of trout in history being available to trout enthusiasts. Over 100,000 anglers will be vying for a chance at brook, rainbow and brown trout in the state’s streams and lakes. Streams in Rappahannock County stocked with trout this year are Rush River, Piney Branch and Thornton River north fork. All were supplied with brook and rainbow trout. An ernest plea is made to fishermen to help keep the river and riverbanks clean. Please do not throw down your tin cans lunch wrappers or other trash. If care is not taken by fishermen this year, Rush River will not be stocked again during the closed season in May.
